Occupational Hygiene Officer

Role Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Occupational Hygiene Officer to join our team on a flexible, project-based contract. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting field surveys, monitoring physical and airborne stressors, evaluating operational work environments, and compiling compliant technical and statutory reports for designated client scopes.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct on-site occupational hygiene measurements and assessments (airborne pollutants, noise, thermal stress, illumination, and ventilation parameters).
Deploy, operate, and field-calibrate occupational hygiene sampling equipment according to approved standards and operating procedures.
Analyze monitoring results against statutory occupational exposure limits (OELs).
Compile clear, comprehensive technical reports outlining risk evaluations, regulatory compliance, and practical control recommendations.
Ensure alignment with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and relevant DMR/DMRE guidelines.
Required Qualifications & Experience
SAIOH Registration: Current, active registration with SAIOH (Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene) at Occupational Hygiene Assistant (OHA) or Occupational Hygiene Technologist (OHT) level.
Mine Environmental Control: Chamber of Mines / MQA Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (MEC).
Education: Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Hygiene, or an equivalent science qualification.
Field Experience: Demonstrable practical experience in physical fieldwork, occupational exposure monitoring, and report compilation.
Driver's License: Valid Code B (08) driver’s license with own reliable transport for site travel.
Medical Fitness: Valid Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket) or the ability to pass a medical fitness assessment for site access.
Core Competencies
Excellent technical report-writing skills and precise data handling.
Self-motivated and capable of delivering high-quality outputs under tight project deadlines.
Strong professional communication skills for engaging with client management and site personnel.
